Here is my situation: I'm a founder of a start-up software company and just sold part of my shares to an investor months ago so I have multi-million $ cash.Several wealth management companies try to convince me to let them manage my money. Of course, I have to pay them an annual fee from 0.75% to 1%. All those companies are fee-only. I checked their long-term return on a balanced portfolio (40% bond and 60% stock) which is ~4% - ~6% after the fee. Seems I can achieve the same (or higher) return by mixing appropriate ETF/Mutual Fund (or just buy VBIAX that is a 40-60 balanced fund and has higher long-term return than those wealth management). Is there special reason that I need to hire a wealth management company rather than doing this by myself?
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
